We have just been asked to share the following update which will impact Arriva services across the city.
--
Dear Councillors,
As you will be aware Arriva approached WYCA in September 2024 to inform us they were planning to make significant reductions to bus services in the region, and that this was because of driver shortages and additional challenges caused by the closure of the Wakefield Depot.
We have since been working with them to help provide a reliable service to customers. Through discussions with them and some of the smaller operators we took the decision to allow them to make changes to their services outside of agreed planned service change dates.
The next formal service change date is the 22 February 2025 however to allow improvements to be implemented sooner, and to give customers an improved service, we have agreed to a change date of 5 January 2025.
I wanted to contact you to manage expectations around the information that will be available to customers.
Real time predictions at bus stops, bus stations and online will be available.
PDF versions of the timetables are available on https://wymetro.com/arrivajan2025
MetroLine (0113 245 7676) is available 7days a week to answer customer enquiries.
The volume of work linked to Bradford Interchange re-opening on the same date (5 January 2025) and the process of producing printed information for bus stops means it is likely to be the end of February before full timetable information has been posted at all stops. We are working hard to get the information out as soon as possible whilst ensuring that passengers have access to a more reliable service.
I would be grateful if this was communicated to your constituents if they contact you with any concerns about access to passenger information.
