Education funding

The government is providing funding to all Local Authorities between 2024 and 2026 to support schools and childcare providers to develop new wraparound and/or extended entitlement (childcare) places.

The aim is for all parents/carers of primary school children who need it to be able to access childcare in their local area from 08:00 – 18:00.

The offer of Free Early Education Entitlement (FEEE) places is being extended in phases so that from September 2025 eligible working parents/carers will qualify for 30 hours of free childcare per week for children aged 9 months upwards.

The Council has set up a process on Leeds for Learning to invite applications from providers in Leeds, including schools, to bid for some of this funding (https://www.leedsforlearning.co.uk/Page/38169).

The application window will be open until 5pm on 31 July 2024.

There will also be further opportunities to submit applications in the future with arrangements for this to be determined at a later stage.
