As part of our highway maintenance programme we will be delivering a major carriageway resurfacing / improvement scheme:
The directly affected routes are as follows:
Hunslet Lane (Approx) from Crown Point Road to South Accommodation Road IN and OUTBOUND sections.
Hunslet Road (Approx) from Forster Street to Leathley Road IN and OUTBOUND sections
Hunslet Distributor (Approx) from and including M621 slip roads to Hunslet Road both IN and OUTBOUND
South Accommodation Road (Approx.) Long Causeway to and including partial resurface of Atkinson Street Roundabout.
Further streets affected as partial resurfacing will be needed to include the respective Junctions:
Black Bull Street and Butterly Street (at their respective Junction’s with Hunslet Lane)
Mulberry Street, Ward and Leathley Street, South Accommodation Road, Whitehouse Street, Slips on off Hunslet Distributor (at their respective junctions with Hunslet Road)
Jack Lane (at junction with Hunslet distributor)
Atkinson Street, Bridgewater Road (at their junction with South Accommodation Road)
The resurfacing work is due to start 12th August 2024 and it is expected to take around 6 weeks to complete.
In order to complete this work efficiently, and for your safety we will require your assistance to not park on the carriageway during our works.
A TTRO to close the road(s) during our works is in place, this is to ensure the safety of the operatives, the public and to enable us to deliver this work quickly, which will reduce disruption by a number of weeks.
Works are scheduled to take place on: Night shifts only Monday to Friday (please note weekends are included as contingency plans and for some phases of the works due to business requirements).
The working hours will be 20:00 - 06:00 ** Some phases differ with start and finish times of at 20:30 – 06:00
TTRO in place for FULL ROAD CLOSURE and DIVERSION during the working hours only
Symbolized diversion routes will available and strategically placed to assist in diversion routes.
Please speak to teams on site if you have questions about the works arrangements and any access concerns, they will assist where they can, to ensure your safety.
In the event of an emergency, vehicle(s) requiring access will always be granted without delay.
Access to your properties with no alternative route will be permitted when safe to do so, access to through traffic cannot be maintained.
This scheme as you can hopefully appreciate is a very large and complex piece of work to deliver. The location is very difficult being a major interchange within Leeds and it is inevitable that some disruption is unavoidable.
Therefore, please do ensure that you allow adequate journey times for this potential disruption. Every attempt to reduce any disruption and to keep this to a minimum has been considered.
