My Weekly Roundup of my Work in the Ward on Your Behalf

It has been a busy week of meetings, catch-ups, casework, and yes, learning how to make better videos for social media. Here is my update of some of the work I've been doing as your Councillor.

On Monday, I had a coffee with David from Leeds Sanctuary about their ongoing work and future projects. They have done brilliant work in the city centre, and I’m looking forward to what comes next.

I spend the rest of the day doing casework and video editing before heading to the Labour Group for our regular meeting.

On Tuesday, I attended the Leasowe Court coffee morning (and got wet in the rain). I then had some other meetings at Leeds Civic Hall and attended an anti-bullying seminar for church schools.

I then spend more time catching up on casework and getting updates on a wide range of antisocial behaviour issues in the ward.

Wednesday was most filled with Full Council. Several issues were raised in the meeting, and sadly, we ran out of time before my speech on the council's work on energy efficiency.

We paid tribute to Rob Burrows, and announced the rollout of the glass collection via the green bins on August 1st. In the morning, I was also briefed on an upcoming project along the riverfront called the Floating Museum.

On Thursday, I met with the Friends of Hunslet Moor and the Parks Department about the Hunslet Moor Community Hub. I then attended the last Leeds Pride Steering Group before the day itself.

In the afternoon, I had several other meetings with residents and caught up on some political issues.

In the evening, I attended the Hunslet Carr Primary School Full Governing Board.

Friday was most taken up by coursework, but I had several other regular meetings. I attended a West Yorkshire Combined Authority update on the upcoming mass transit consultation, followed by a visit to the “official” opening of the new TCV Skelton Grange habitat.

Cllr Mohammed Iqbal and I also visited Kurdish House Leeds at their new Beeston Road site, which they are currently renovating.

Saturday I had a day off but still managed to attend The Hunslet Club Summer Gala with Cllr Mohammed Iqbal, which was packed, before dropping by the Leeds Sao Tome and Principe Community Independence Say celebration of Cross Flats Park.

Today, I spent most of the morning doing casework before helping out at the café at this weekends Friends of Cross Flatts Park Bands in the Park and Dog Show.

I'm now off to watch the England football team!
