The first meeting of the Problem Solving Group met today to discuss the ongoing issues at Penny Pocket Park (opposite Leeds Minster) due to the ongoing issues of criminality and antisocial behaviour.
Partners will now go away to work on their initial agreed actions from the meeting.
In the meantime West Yorkshire Police and the Antisocial Behaviour Team via Safer Leeds will increase proactive patrols in the area to help enforce the City Centre Public Space Protection Order.
Conversations will also happen with the Green Spaces Team and Wades to carry out initial works to clear up problematic areas of vegetation and sightline obstructions - creating an more open and manageable space.
Mohammed and I have committed to providing investment into this area to facilitate it's renewal.
This was an initial meeting and there will be significantly more to do over the coming weeks and months while long-term plans are put in place to deal with this space once and for all.
In the meantime, it is critical that residents report any antisocial behaviour or criminality they see either via 101, Live Chat or Report It on the West Yorkshire Police website.
