Connecting Leeds have advised National Grid are due to start emergency repairs to a power cable near the junction of the A639 Thwaite Gate and Sussex Avenue. In order to do this, an excavation will be required within the carriageway which will extend across the exit from Sussex Avenue.
This will result in the closure of Sussex Avenue from its junction with Sussex Gardens to its junction with the A639 Thwaite Gate. This means no vehicles will be able to exit Sussex Avenue onto the A639 or George Mann Road. A signed diversion will be in place and details are shown on the attached drawing.
This closure will commence from midnight on 21/7/21 3/9/21. Please note the dates are indicative and may change slightly. In addition, whilst this work is taking place the existing restrictions around the junction (as detailed below) will remain in place.
No right turn into Sussex Avenue from the outbound A639. Traffic will be diverted via the new roundabout at Thwaite Gate.
No right turn or straight ahead from George Mann Road. All traffic will turn left, and be diverted via the new roundabout at Thwaite Gate.
